out and about in Padley woods

Had a ride out to Padley woods ,Sunday nothing specail just walking boots on and pack and one camera no big still,(filters ,tripod or other stuff)
 Was picked up by the daughter and boyfriend and off we went 

Padley brook in full flow coloured with peat from the hills 
Padley church ,lovely little church year 1588 was a dark year for the church
In the July 12th 1588 Padley Manor was raided ,it was the residence of  the Recusant Fitzherbert family , Two traveling priest -Nicholas Farlick and Robert Ludlam were staying overnight , the priest and every one in the hall was arrested ,Farlick and Ludlam along with another priest Richard Simpson where executed in Derby with in a fortnight ,
The altar stone was buried after a earlier raid in 1588, it was found and restored  in 1934 to its rightful place in the chapel

nice to see these old water thoughts along the walk there was one out side every farm we came to
Also the old millstones where nice to see as well part of our history 


love to see these old ruins of buildings from years ago
